Behringer Cmd Studio 4a Djay Pro

The Behringer CMD Studio 4A DJ Controller is a four-deck MIDI DJ controller that features a built-in four-channel USB audio interface. It has dual six-inch touch-sensitive platters as well as backlit buttons that correspond to what is going on in your software. Filter: Behringer CMD STUDIO 4a Nowadays, more and more DJs are using VirtualDJ Pro Full to be able to use digital music instead of traditional vinyls or CDs. Still, using digital music doesn't mean you'll have to sit behind a computer and use a mouse and keyboard.

Perfect controller for the price

Perfect controller for the price. I bought it for $170 and it has everything I wanted including a great sound-card. Would definitely recommend as a first controller/audio interface!

Driver download flagged as malware

I'm giving the CMD Studio 4a only two stars at the moment. Here's why: it looks and feels like a very good quality piece of equipment; especially for the price. But I have not had a chance to use it because I can't get the drivers. Whenever I try to download the file, it is blocked by two different network providers here. When I tried to have someone download for me and send via email, the file was blocked by gmail for security issues as being potential malware. I attempted to contact Behringer through the website, but they ask for a lot of personal information (i.e. full name, home address, email address, and telephone; everything but your SSN) just to make a simple inquiry. If a file on their site is being blocked by 3 different sources, I don't think it is a good idea to divulge all that information. If I manage to get some resolution on the matter I will update this review...

Awesome controller. VDJ wants $100 to register
Behringer

Awesome Beautiful controller, plan on spending $100 with Atomix Virtual Dj 8 (only vdj software that works with it) to register the controller with them. Works great on the free virtual DJ (for ten minutes before you get a message and the controller stops responding) but if you actually own VIRTUAL DJ you should have no problems. If you have a crack it won't. BUY IT! It's buttons are amazing.

The lights looks good, jog wheels are smooth

This controller has everything a beginner-intermediate DJ needs, except for a filter knob. The lights looks good, jog wheels are smooth, pitch sliders are nice and long, and the buttons have a nice resistance when pressed. I use it with Traktor and there are mappings online you can download, and they work seamlessly. For the price, this thing pretty much unbeatable.

OK But Borked Button

I like it OK but one of the SYNC buttons was borked when I got it. It still works tho so I didn't send it back. Overall I wish it and the platters were smaller and had 4 track faders instead. Also wish the outputs were two separate lines balanced instead of two of the same stereo outputs RCA.. Other than that I like it. My first DJ controller so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Behringer Cmd Studio 4a Djay Pro
Great product for the money, high quality. Perfect for traktor

AwesomE controller, for the price I would recommend this to anybody rather your a beginner or pro. Using this on traktor and the layout is perfect for traktor effects. Lights up beautiful and the size of the controller is perfect, most controllers are small and look like toys but you will not be laughted at if you show up with this. Also material build is high quality. Also lights up beautifully. I'm impressed with this Behringer, btw I paid $159 when this first came out. Price must went up, due to all the good reviews !

IT IS A GOOD CONTROLLER AND ALL BUT THERE IS ONE DOWNFALL FROM ...

IT IS A GOOD CONTROLLER AND ALL BUT THERE IS ONE DOWNFALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND ITS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT WITH RESPECT TO COMPATIBILITY WITH SERATO SOFTWARES. HERE I AM WITH THIS BAD ASS CONTROLLER AS IT IS HOOKED IT UP TO THE PC SERATO AND ALL TO MY SURPRISE NO CONNECTIVITY. FOR THOSE WHO GONNA BUY THIS FOR USE WITH SERATO INVEST IN ANOTHER CONTROLLER..WORKS FLAWLESS WITH THE VDJ .. THEY LIKE FAMILY GOES WELL TOGETHER..WELL FOLKS THATS MY TWO SCENTS ON THIS PRODUCT!

Excellent hardware (with some omissions) / Incredibly disappointing software

I'm usually quite hesitant to give items a low star rating (and for the price I really wanted to like this controller) but unfortunately I was disappointed by this controller. In fairness, I have been DJing for 17 years and have performed in a variety of large scale settings. I have a full line of pro equipment but was hoping to use this controller as a backup or a rig to take to my friends' houses when I'm supplying the music for their house party or event. So to that end, I'm accustomed to high end DJ equipment. Also, I started on turntables so I have a lot of expectations when it comes to a 'turntable feel.' I've divided this review into two sections: Hardware - 4 1/2 Stars ------------- People make a habit of knocking Behringer, but I think they make some solid products. This is no exception. Especially for the price, the build quality of the hardware is excellent. The platters feel great and solid, the knobs are excellent and have a nice feel to it. And, it looks great when its all hooked up and lit up. I can live without gains, but the real mistake is the absence of a mic input. That is an incredibly cheap omission that would have made this unit much more usable. Software - 1 1/2 - 2 Stars ------------- Hate to say it, but Deckadance is just not ready for primetime. The software is this controller's Achilles heel. I had read and watched reviews regarding this not being an ideal software for turntablism. That is certainly true - the software cant keep up with fast movement of the platter. I spin house and so I didn't think this would be a problem, but it does occasionally become apparent. The real issue with the software which makes it nearly unusable is the errors with pitch correction. I'm a serato guy, but have even used several different ipad and iphone dj apps. Generally when you use pitch control in these software suites, you can lock the pitch so that the bpm of the track is either increased or decreased, but the software will correct for the tone so that it doesn't sound like the chipmunks are singing. Deckadance too has this feature, but it does not work properly - at a certain point, the software starts inserting noises and distortion. The reality is, you simply cannot DJ properly if you cannot control the speed of your tracks without distortion. It becomes nearly unusable. Overall ------------ Let me be clear - I heard you can use this thing with traktor and I'm sure its much better. I don't have traktor - I'm a serato guy. So if you're planning on using your own software, this is an excellently built controller for the price. But if you're planning on using the software included in the box, be wary - its more of a novelty than pro dj software.

Excellent Entry Level Controller, Just No Gain Knobs

Behringer Cmd Studio 4a

Excellent entry level controller for the price. My only gripe would be no gain knobs, which is rather important for most DJs, since some tracks are not as loud as others and having to use the mouse to raise the gain is not practical some times. This will be my 'bedroom' controller for making mixes at home, so I can live with the lack of gain knobs. I would definitely go with a slightly more professional controller when playing out. It's not very portable, either. It's fairly large, but great for a stationary console.

Great controller

Behringer Cmd Studio 4a Serato

This controller is very responsive and is outstanding in performance. None of the buttons, knobs, sliders, and jogwheels feel like they can break easily. I has an nice finish with a finger print proof metal plate on top and a lightweight plastic casing. The jogwheels are pretty big and are perfect for scratching. I like that there are kill buttons for the high, mid, and low eqs. However the software that comes with it is not to my liking. The scratching is delayed with the controller. Meaning that if you were to backspin the jogwheel for a track and put your hand down to stop spinning, there will be a noticeable delay. Some say that it was done on purpose but i prefer to have it on instant. Pitch controls are very precise. The led lighting is colorful and bright. You could be under the sun and still be able to see the light. It does not come with a microphone input but i'm guessing that this is more for a beginner that does not want to spend so much money on a dj controller. It is at a great price for what you are getting. It is not as good as a numark mixtrack pro 2 but is is very close. In the box, you will have the controller, a usb cable to connect to your computer, an ac adapter, software license, and a sticker. There are 2 rca outputs and a headphone which is nice because some have to have the sound come out from the computer or a sound card which will limit your performance. Overall i would recomend this product. I see nothing wrong with it and it is set at an amazing price
